The Rock Immersed

Startled awake to the light of the moon
I search in the night air for your goodnight
As I have always searched unknowing and deaf
I am cold afraid and crave the warmth of your hips
Spooned into mine and the scent of your hair
On my face to sleep secure you are mine
But I am awed, my love
You see me as I am, and yet I am the rock
A rock awash in the reflection of the pool
A rock suffering its own immersion
Only to find redemption in your words.
