In the world that was our time I gazed upon the sun.
And thus inspired I wrote the words that made us one
And basked in the rays, an entire day rendered from aloft
A perfect place under the sun, the grass was warm and soft
The place around became a world of light and fantasy
Enamored and addicted to peace and ecstasy
Care let the two of us repose
And leave our sharing souls exposed
In essence we created there, more than went before
A passion and a union rare, we tempted Fate for more
The sun cares not for that which heretofore had been
So all that afternoon I reveled on the green,
Oblivious to time or place or consequence unseen
The sun shone long and little did I want to know
That soon the sun across the sky would go
We shared a life's most precious day and drank of it our fill
But nagging obligations chased away the hours, like a bitter pill
Painfully I watched it slip beyond the westhern hills
