La Voce Della Luna

Sleep disturbed by night's illume, the windows draw me nigh
Basking under the soothing glow, leaves speak in voices low and lythe
Like lunar lips displaced below, whispering  persuasive cries
The night air soothes but does not allay, bleeding pensive cerebration
You are far away.

The salve of sleep denied my soul I'm forced to face the fate
My mouth and lips half dry await distraction from a hungered state
The grass smells wet and fresh with dew, searing stars sting my weary eyes
Craving what distance denies me, I search the moon for advice
"You are far away"

Taunting, mocking merciless orb; Tell me I can sleep.
'Tis more than can my ears absorb, into my mind it seeps.
Her voice could always drown you out, no pity or despair
Solitude's bedside bedlam cell, a mullioned prison lair.
Tortured hours, eons before the day
You are far away.
